EE offers a 20% military discount off airtime on Flex Pay plans and SIM-only contracts of 12 or 24 months. Serving personnel, veterans and reservists all qualify. The discount generates five codes — one for you, the rest to share with family or friends. That's a 20% reduction on your monthly mobile bill, plus potentially the same saving passed on to up to four people in your household.

Why EE for Forces Families

EE is part of BT Group and runs the UK's largest mobile network by coverage. As of 2025, the network serves over 21 million customers across mobile, fixed and wholesale. For forces families, coverage is the practical question — EE's network reach is wider than most competitors, which matters for personnel based at rural garrison locations or moving between postings in areas where some networks struggle.

How Much Can Forces Families Save

The discount applies to airtime costs — the monthly plan charge — not to the handset cost or upfront payments. On a £40-a-month SIM-only plan, 20% off saves £96 over a year. On a Flex Pay contract at £50 a month, that's £120 back annually. Across five codes, a military household could collectively save hundreds of pounds a year on phone bills.

How to Claim the EE Military Discount

Two routes to claiming. New customers verify through Beans iD — a third-party identity verification platform — using proof of service. Once verified, a discount code is issued to use at EE checkout. Existing EE customers who want to add the discount to their current plan call 150 from their EE mobile and request it through customer services.

  1. New customers: Go to ee.co.uk/mobile/military-key-workers-discount and register with Beans iD. Upload your proof of service — MOD 90, payslip or other documentation. Once verified, your discount code is issued.
  2. Choose your plan: Browse EE's Flex Pay or SIM-only plans. Select one that suits your usage.
  3. Apply the code: Enter your discount code at checkout. The 20% comes off the airtime element of the monthly cost.
  4. Share remaining codes: Your application generates five codes total. Share the remaining four with family members or friends — each person applies a code independently to their own new EE plan.
  5. Existing EE customers: Call 150 from your EE mobile and request the military discount through customer services. It applies when you upgrade or move to a new plan.

Veterans — How to Claim

For veterans, the verification process accepts discharge paperwork as proof. A P60 showing an Armed Forces Pension, a valedictory certificate, or other formal documentation confirming service all work as proof of eligibility. Veterans without a MOD 90 card can still qualify — the key is having clear documentation that shows your name and confirms military service. Upload whichever document you have most readily available and contact EE customer services if the verification is rejected, as there are multiple accepted formats.

For other mobile deals for forces families, the Three and Vodafone pages cover forces offers on those networks — worth comparing before committing to any contract.

Sharing the Discount With Family

The five discount codes can be shared with family members. Spouse, partner, adult children — each person applies the code independently to their own new EE contract or SIM-only plan. The discount can't be transferred to an existing contract without reapplying, but works for new connections and upgrades to a new plan. For forces families where multiple members are on mobile contracts, the saving across five accounts adds up significantly over a 24-month term.

For broader connectivity deals, the TV and Broadband section covers forces offers on home internet and TV packages.

Tips to Keep Mobile Costs Down

  • Register with Beans iD before your next upgrade to have the code ready when you need it.
  • Share remaining codes with family members — up to four other people can use them on new EE plans.
  • Compare SIM-only vs Flex Pay — on a SIM-only plan with your own handset, 20% off airtime is the full monthly saving.
  • Check coverage at your current and likely next posting using the EE coverage map before committing.
  • Existing customers on the wrong plan — call 150 and upgrade to a plan where the discount can be applied.
  • Veterans should have discharge paperwork or Armed Forces Pension P60 ready for verification — a MOD 90 card isn't required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does EE offer a military discount?

Yes — 20% off airtime on Flex Pay and SIM-only plans of 12 or 24 months. New customers verify through Beans iD with proof of service at ee.co.uk. Existing EE customers call 150 to apply the discount. Five codes are generated per application, shareable with family and friends.

Is the EE military discount available to veterans?

Yes. Veterans qualify for the 20% airtime discount. The verification process accepts a P60 showing an Armed Forces Pension, a valedictory certificate or other formal proof of service. A MOD 90 card is not essential — documentation confirming your name and service history is sufficient.

Do reservists get the EE military discount?

Yes. Reservists are included in the eligible groups for the EE 20% discount. Use proof of reservist service when verifying through Beans iD.

How do I claim the EE military discount as a new customer?

Register with Beans iD through the EE military discount page at ee.co.uk and upload your proof of service. Once verified, you'll receive a discount code. Use it at checkout when purchasing a new Flex Pay plan or SIM-only contract of 12 or 24 months.

How do I get the EE military discount as an existing customer?

Call 150 from your EE mobile and ask to have the military discount applied to your account. Customer services will walk you through the process. The discount applies to new plans or upgrades, not to your existing contract without a plan change.

Can I share my EE military discount with family?

Yes. Each application generates five discount codes. You use one, and the remaining four can be shared with family members or friends — each person applies a code independently to their own new EE contract or SIM-only plan.

What plans does the EE military discount apply to?

The 20% discount applies to airtime on Flex Pay plans and 12 or 24-month SIM-only plans. It doesn't apply to handset costs or upfront payments, and isn't available on all plan types — check at the point of purchase to confirm eligibility on your chosen plan.

What proof of service does EE accept for veterans?

The EE Perk Portal for veterans accepts a P60 showing an Armed Forces Pension, a valedictory certificate — the document issued on leaving the forces — or other formal documentation confirming military service history. The document must show your full name clearly.

Is EE a good network for forces families?

For coverage, yes. EE runs the UK's widest mobile network by geographic reach, which matters for forces personnel posted to rural bases or garrison towns where coverage from smaller networks can be patchy. Coverage maps are available at ee.co.uk to check specific locations before switching.

Does the EE military discount apply to mobile broadband?

The discount has previously been referenced as applying to mobile broadband as well as phone contracts. Confirm current eligibility with EE directly when applying, as plan eligibility can change. Call 150 or check ee.co.uk for the latest terms.

What happens to my EE military discount when I upgrade?

The discount doesn't automatically transfer to a new contract — you need to reapply when upgrading. Existing customers should call 150 when upgrading to ensure the military discount is applied to the new plan rather than lost in the transition.

How does EE compare to other networks for forces families?

EE's 20% discount is one of the stronger military deals in the UK mobile market. Coverage is the widest of any UK network, which is a practical advantage for forces personnel who move locations. Three and Vodafone also have deals worth comparing before committing — see those pages on this site for the current offers on each network.
